A Ruston man awaiting trial for second-degree murder in the 2015 death of his girlfriend has plead guilty to having sex with a minor in a separate but apparently related incident.

Court minutes show that on April 20, Sereco DeAngelo Andrews plead guilty to two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, after which the prosecution agreed to drop two of the remaining charges against him: computeraided solicitation for sexual purposes and pornography involving juveniles.

Third Judicial District Judge Thomas Rogers sentenced Andrews to 10 years at hard labor on each carnal knowledge charge, to be served consecutively for a total of 20 years. That’s the maximum allowable sentence.

As of Friday, records showed Andrews’ second-degree murder charge was still active, with trial still slated for June 27.

Andrews is accused of strangling his girlfriend Danielle Wilson to death in their Courtney Avenue home in Ruston on Aug. 26, 2015.

Prosecutors allege he left the home he shared with Wilson early that morning, drove to the west side of Ruston, met a juvenile female with whom he had previously been texting, and had sex with her in his 18-wheeler.

That’s the incident that constituted the second carnal knowledge charge. The first charge concerned another encounter between Andrews and the juvenile, estimated to have happened a week or two earlier.

Wilson was found dead the evening of Aug. 26, 2015. Prosecutors say cell phone records show Andrews had returned to the residence after his encounter with the juvenile and was there during the time window when the coroner determined Wilson died.

After sentencing on the sex charges, Rogers requested that the state Department of Corrections make available any rehabilitation programs that may be available to Andrews, according to the minutes.
