Three Ruston men are charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in connection with a weekend shooting at a Bernice nightclub that left another Ruston man dead and a woman injured.
Keayezimonde Haulcy, 19; Elanco Richardson, 20; and David Abbott, 21, are each charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. The three are being held without bond in the Union Parish Detention Center.
Kemothy Starks, 21, of Ruston, died after being shot early Saturday morning at the Rolex Lounge on U.S. 167.
When Union Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the bar around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, they found the two victims, Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates said Monday. Starks and the unidentified woman were taken to Reeves Memorial Hospital in Bernice, where Starks died.
The woman was later airlifted to Oschner University Health Center in Shreveport.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Public Information Officer Trooper Michael Reichardt said Wednesday the investigation is still ongoing.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, he said.
